The Theatre’s History

Designed by Benjamin F. Liddon, the historic Coliseum Theatre is a Mississippi landmark for a reason. Constructed in 1924, it has been hosting all kinds of performances and events since. Its impressive stature makes it the largest theatre edifice in North MS.

The theatre began as a dual-purpose venue, allowing guests to see both motion pictures on the big screen and vaudeville performances. Throughout its lifetime, the Coliseum Theatre has offered patrons a chance to see a range of entertainment styles, including hosting Grand Ole Opry performers and even Elvis Presley. Because of its rich background, it’s no surprise that in 1980, it earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places.

What to Expect During Your Visit

Aside from its size, the venue features intricate molding, marble wainscoting, and a bold stained-glass fixture that creates a luxurious interior. The exterior exudes Southern charm thanks to its Colonial Revival architecture, making it stand out from other theaters around the country. The city of Corinth has restored the theatre, offering an inviting marquee and a vertical sign that will catch the eye.

The venue offers 999 seats, allowing plenty of room for you and your party. While some of the acts from the past are no longer available, today’s entertainment options include special film screenings, performances by the Corinth Symphony Orchestra, and more.
