Visit the Oldest Business in Mississippi

Borroum's Drug Store and Soda Fountain stands as not just the oldest business in Mississippi, but the oldest one in the United States that's still operated by the same family today. Its story begins with Dr. Andrew Jackson (Jack) Borroum.

The store started as a place where Borroum could dispense medicine for the community. The present building was erected in 1843 with walls built from hand-made brick.

Borroum's Drug Store evolved over the years into a general store that carried a variety of items for the public, a hub for meaningful discussions on election night, and even marriages. Modernized with a soda fountain, tables, a jukebox, a museum, and more, the store continues to serve as a gathering place where locals and visitors alike can step into the past.
